Juxtapoz Magazine – Zandra Rhodes and Fluevog Team for New Summer Capsule Collection

What’s in a name? Zandra Rhodes’ mum wished to contact her Xandra, right after Alexander the Fantastic. But there was the difficulty of pronunciation, so she turned Zandra, fittingly meaning “defender of humanity.” In a feeling, which is what Rhodes does, ushering bliss, technicolor and timelessness in a decades lengthy vocation that is however strutting.

Literally strutting in 1 of our enjoyable favorites, Fluevog, the eponymous brand identify that summons fantasy footwear minus the blisters and fallen arches. Textile maven Zandra Rhodes and shoe designer John Fluevog admit to “circling every other for decades,” so what a excellent time to split totally free from a wardrobe of sneakers and scuffs and just take a peek at their joint capsule collection.

Can I wander around in them, would I put on them?”

Rhodes graduated from England’s Royal University of Artwork with a degree in house furnishing textile style and design, and her 1st foray into manner was a challenge. Although precious Liberty of London floral prints ruled as the style of the working day, she referenced travel textbooks, Warhol. Liechtenstein and Pucci, exposing seams and embellishing with security pins prior to everyone else. This kind of love of prints resulted in the Manner and Textile Museum that she proven in 2003, the ground floor of her enchanting studio around the tower of London. Like an ornate Baroque style and design place, it’s been Zandra-ized (like the kitchen), as John describes it, loaded with pottery and “all the bits I like ideal,” she smiles. Of program, the entry is a rainbow floor that starts with pink and finishes in violet. 

I question if she has at any time made something in black, and she laughs. “Well, the Daily Mail challenged me to put on black for a 7 days.” But why would we want her to?

Her clients did not! They appeared by means of the racks of clothing and Freddie liked a wedding day dress which was hanging up. He place the picked outfits on and pranced about, observing how the clothing would transfer on stage. He had excellent strength and charisma, but was rather shy. I guess all of his pizazz was saved for his concerts!”
