Winners of Terrebonne Spring Art Show announced, works on display at Houma gallery

Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild’s 59th annual Spring Art Show is currently on display at Downtown Art Gallery 630, located at 630 Belanger St. in Houma. Gallery hours during the Art Show are Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. Entry into the Gallery is always free of charge. The closing reception for the Art Show is Sunday, April 3 from 2-4 p.m.. All entries will be removed from the Gallery at the close of the Show.

Selected as judge for this event was Alan Flattmann of Madisonville. Over the span of more than 40 years, Flattmann has become recognized as one of the most influential and respected pastel artist in the country. He is a Pastel Society of America’s Hall of Fame honoree and is an Eminent Pastel artist in the International Association of Pastel Societies. He has published several books including “The Art Pastel Painting,” “An Artist’s Vision of New Orleans,” “The Paintings of Alan Flattmann,” “Alan Flattmann’s French Quarter Impressions” and “The Poetic Realism of Alan Flattmann.” He has also been featured in several major art magazines.

Flattmann also teaches workshops locally, nationally and in several countries overseas. His artwork is showcased at several major art galleries and will be featured at Carol Robinson Gallery, at 840 Napoleon Ave. in New Orleans from April 1-May 7. A Champagne Open House will be held on April 9 from noon to 3 p.m., a must-see exhibition.

Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild wishes to thank the artists from the region for entering our annual Spring Art Show. Without you we would not have a show. Also we thank our sponsors who provided the funds for the awards presented.

Special Exhibit: The Guild will honor our local ribbon-winners by showing their artwork in our Gallery for the remainder of April. Come out and support our local artists.

Members’ Only Competition: The theme of the next competition is “Ain’t There No More.” These paintings will be on display starting April 26 and will remain on display until June 30.

Workshop: Alan Flattmann, judge of our Spring Art Show will give a 3-day workshop on May 20, 21 & 22 at Downtown Art Gallery 630. The workshop will feature painting in the impressionist style of Monet. You can chose to paint in oils or pastels. There will be landscapes and photos available to use or you can use your own photos. Anyone interested in attending this workshop should contact Michelle Eroche at [email protected].
