Powers Art Center to open Andy Warhol show concurrent with Aspen Art Museum exhibition

The Powers Art Center in Carbondale will open an exhibit of Andy Warhol portraits and portfolios from the artist’s “Marilyn” and “Flowers” series.

It will run from Nov. 30 through April 2022, running concurrently with the recently announced Aspen Art Museum show “Andy Warhol: Lifetimes” running Dec. 3 to March 2022.

The exhibition is comprised of works from The John and Kimiko Powers Collection, now under the stewardship of the Ryobi Foundation.



John and Kimiko Powers first met Warhol in New York before the artist was well-known, according to the Powers Art Center announcement. John was impressed to see that Warhol was working without an assistant, and he decided to commission the artist to make a portrait of his wife. Art gallery to open at Empire Outlets, featuring works from local artists

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — An art gallery is set to launch this weekend at Empire Outlets in St. George.

The space, which had been a storefront for U.S. Polo, will host “Kin•etiꓘ” beginning Saturday. The exhibit consists of multi-medium works from local artists throughout the five boroughs and the tristate area.

“It is more important than ever to support the local artists that make New York City the incredible cultural destination that it is,” said Joseph Ferrara, principal at BFC Partners. “Empire Outlets is proud to provide a space for artists to showcase their tremendous work and thrilled to add to Staten Island’s rising art scene.”

Conroe Art League benefit art auction now open at the gallery

The Conroe Art League (CAL) has opened the 5th Annual “12 x 12” Art Auction at the Gallery at the Madeley Building in historic downtown Conroe.

The 12 x 12 Art Auction is a presentation of 74 original works by CAL artists on 12-inch square wooden surfaces. All proceeds from the auction benefit the Conroe Art League’s Student Awards Show for Montgomery County high school seniors. Viewing at the Gallery is available Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

“This year for the first time bidding is being conducted solely online,” said Kerry Conkling, chair of the event. “Bidding for these unique works began in January, and we have already received a good number of bids and made several sales.”


Bidding begins at $35 for each work, or the works may be purchased immediately online or in person for $200. Bidding concludes at 11:45 p.m. Feb. 26.
