Solo exhibit at Bridge Art Gallery, Whiskey Fest returns, more to do in Hudson this weekend

Solo art exhibit at Bridge Art Gallery continues through April

Berth-Her may have opened earlier this month at Bayonne’s Bridge Art Gallery, but the solo exhibition by Danielle Scott can still be seen until April 30.

The new series is meant to bring life and stories to silenced women of color and pays homage to all women of color, African American, Asian, Indian and Hispanic. Scott herself is an Afro-Cuban/Filipino artist.

The Bridge Art Gallery is located at 199 Broadway, Bayonne. Gallery hours are Wednesday to Friday by appointment and noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

International Women’s Stories at Nimbus

Nimbus, Jersey City Poet Laureate RescuePoetix, and Ameerah Shabazz-Bilal of When Women Speak will be hosting International Women’s Stories on Friday, March 18, at 7 p.m. at the Nimbus Arts Center in honor of Women’s History Month.

The event features Mwikali Words, Lelani Lopez, Dayana Puolard, Crystal Davis, and combines visual, literary, and performance arts. Local vendors will also be present and there will be an open mic. Those who have work they wish to present can submit it at https://bit.ly/3IbwrVb.

The Nimbus Arts Center is located at 329 Warren St., Jersey City. There is a suggested donation of $20. Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test from within 72 hours for everyone above age 4 is required. Masks must be worn at all times.

100 styles of whiskey and spirits at Jersey City Whiskey Festival

If you need a stiff drink after a hard week, then the Jersey City Whiskey Fest at the Harborside Atrium on Saturday, March 19, might be a good bet.

Jersey City Whiskey Fest won’t just have whiskey, but vodka, gin, and tequila. Such drinks include American Kentucky bourbons, Mexican Tequila, and more. Food vendors and live music will also be present.

The Harborside Atrium is located at 210 Hudson St., Jersey City. General admission is $70 and designated drivers get in for $15. Tickets are available on Eventbrite at https://bit.ly/3Jhc8ao.

Musical Drip returns to The Parlor

Musical Drip returns to The Parlor in Jersey City on Sunday, March 20, from 5 to 9 p.m. The sip & paint event will feature karaoke and art supplies to participate.

Food will be served and there will be free mimosas all night. Live video will be recorded along with photos to document the night.

The Parlor is located at 237 Ocean Ave., Jersey City. Tickets for the event are available on Eventbrite at https://bit.ly/3waaKCA. Free parking is also available.

CAS honors Women’s History Month

The Community Awareness Series of the Jersey City Free Public Library will be celebrating Women’s History Month as they honor women in the arts on Thursday, March 24, from 6 to 7 p.m. live on the Jersey City Library’s YouTube page.

The show will feature a performance by Andrea Brachfield (flute), Wilma Ann (vocals), Alevtina Wilcox (trombone, vocals), Amina Figarova (piano), Kim Clarke (bass), and Camille Jones (drums).

Jamification Station returns

Debra Devi and her band will be performing live for the 26th Jamification Station livestream from Cocoon Recording Studio in Jersey City on Thursday, March 24, at 9 p.m.

Hosted by American Blues Scene and moderated by DJ Jon Sexauer of The Grey Eagle Radio Show, the livestream can be seen at www.facebook.com/debradevi, www.facebook.com/americanbluesscene, and www.youtube.com/debradevi.

The band includes Debra Devi on vocals and guitar, Martin Schmid on keys, Kevin Jones on bass, and John Roccesano on drums.

Art & Sound at Green Space

Union City’s Greenspace Studio will have a night of local artists, musicians, and vendors on Friday, March 25, from 6 to 10 p.m.

Live performances include Wave Magnetik at 6 p.m., Mood Merchant at 7 p.m., Sir Synthesis at 8 p.m., and The Latin Jazz Factor at 9 p.m. There will also be live painting.

Tickets are $20 on Eventbrite at https://bit.ly/3tVjWIm. All ticket sales will go towards supporting the local musicians, artists, vendors, and businesses that will be present for the evening.
