This book is an eye opener for me. I didn’t know James Cameron is an artist, and he’s a pretty good artist.
This book is written in first person with James Cameron going over his influences, the artworks he has created over the years prior to directing movies, and the concept art he has created for his movies. There is a lot to see and read. It’s incredibly inspiring to see how much work has been done over the decades, and of course the limitless creativity and imagination.
There are plenty of sketches, comic panels, movie posters, Burne Hogarth style figure drawings, fine art style figure drawings, fantasy art, syd mead style sci fi art, storyboards, designs for characters and creatures and more. And all were drawn traditionally with pencils, ink, paint, pastels.
This book is totally not what I expected because it shows a side of James Cameron that most people won’t know of. It’s a terrific book for fans of James Cameron and his movies.
