The Suffield Arts Council will present a display of photographs by Springfield resident Bill Ferro at Kent Memorial Library’s Pinney Gallery, 50 North Main St., in Suffield.
Ferro, formerly of New York City, was introduced at an early age to photography by his uncle and dabbled in the field for many years while traveling the country.
Since moving to Western Massachusetts, Ferro has photographed the coast from Maine to Florida.
The exhibit will feature many examples of Ferro’s portfolio, which includes vivid images of seascapes, wildlife, florals, and landscapes.
More recently, Ferro traveled to Alaska to photograph glaciers, mountains, and wildlife.
The show, titled “Expressions In Light,” runs through March 31.
The exhibit is made possible through the joint efforts of Ferro, the Suffield Arts Council, and the staff of Kent Memorial Library.
A photo exhibit of “The Flags of 9/11” by local photographer Michael Selissens is on display at Arts of Tolland, 22 Tolland Green, through Saturday.
Selissens’ photos reflect the diversity of the responses to the September attacks and that the American flag was a constant.

Windsor Art Center presents “Second Layer: Conversations through Canvas” by B.D. Stellmacher, opening Saturday and running through April 23.
“Second Layer” will feature a series of large-scale paintings that explore the concept of recognizing and acknowledging the beauty that lies beneath one’s appearance. It challenges viewers to embrace the gifts, knowledge, and wisdom we individually possess and to resist the urge to judge one another by race, gender, religion, sexuality, etc.
Stellmacher challenges people to dig deeper than what they initially see and “persevere to annihilate the surface of the first layer to embrace the gorgeous wealth that resides within the second.” In addition to the “Second Layer” series, Stellmacher will include paintings that explore themes such as social justice, music, religion, education, and the Black experience in America.
Stellmacher is a native of Bloomfield.
Opening weekend will feature an artist meet-and-greet and free grab-and-go treats while supplies last.
Gallery hours are Thursday, 6-8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Arts Center East will host its 11th annual Artist Members Exhibit through Saturday, March 26.
Each year, Arts Center East dedicates one exhibit to its active artist members. The gift shop will be open during the exhibit to showcase more from its artists and artisan members.
Real Art Ways presents “Battlegrounds” — the first solo exhibition by Elizabeth Flood — on display through June 12. Through her ongoing practice of painting outdoors in the elements, Flood surveys complex layers of extraction, violence, and expression within the American landscape. The artworks in the exhibition were made at Civil War battlefields in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and Chancellorsville, Virginia, and at the U.S. Capitol.
“Battlegrounds” is a body of work made over the last 1½ years, comprising six paintings and 18 drawings.
Gallery hours are Wednesday through Friday from 4-9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 2-9 p.m. Admission is free.
The East Hartford Public Library invites the community to view art created by students of Robert J. O’Brien, Anna E. Norris, and Silver Lane Elementary schools. The colorful art is on display throughout the library’s children’s department on the main floor.
The art installation is part of an ongoing partnership between the schools and the library. During a teacher in-service held in the building, art teachers from across the district toured the library and discovered the permanent art and museum pieces on display and were invited to consider the Raymond Library as a public art space to share student art.
The artwork that is on display has been created using a variety of mediums and techniques.
The library is at 840 Main St.
Manchester Art Association
The latest exhibit from The Manchester Art Association is “Colorful Brushwork,” on display at Manchester Town Hall, 42 Center St., through April 6.
This exhibit features members’ work created with oils, water-based oils, alkyds, and/or acrylics.
The Windham Arts Collaborative presents a “Women in the Arts” exhibition at the Coffee Break Art Gallery in the East Brook Mall, 95 Storrs Road in Mansfield.
Women artists have on display their paintings, photography, baskets, and pottery, which are also for sale.
Hours are Saturday and Sunday from noon-4 p.m. and by chance.
The exhibit runs through March 27.
